Located on Ranch Road 620 West is the neighborhood of Stone Canyon. Intertwined with this lovely neighborhood is the adjacent subdivision of Fern Bluff. This area provides expansive trails, parks, and additional amenities that make it a hidden gem in Round Rock.

Though these two neighborhoods are distinctly different they are both part of the Fern Bluff Municipal Utility District. Created by Texas state law, a MUD can levy and collect property taxes as well as issue bonds for sewer and water services. The MUD is governed by a Board of Directors, elected by the residents.
Fern Bluff and Stone Canyon Schools
One of the crowning achievements of the Fern Bluff/Stone Canyon community is the neighborhood elementary school. Fern Bluff Elementary was opened in 1992 and is part of the Round Rock Independent School District. Fern Bluff students are proud to be Bobcats (the school mascot) and have generally achieved a “Blue Ribbon” rating by TEA since inception. School boundaries and ratings are subject to change so please visit http://www.RoundRockISD.org for most current information.
Location of Fern Bluff and Stone Canyon
The location of Fern Bluff and Stone Canyon provide residents with easy access to all major roadways including I-35, Toll Road 45, 183, and Loop 1/Mopac. There is a large HEB grocery store and St. David’s Round Rock Hospital within 1 mile of the neighborhood entrance. Additionally you can find virtually everything from daycare to shopping malls within another 5 miles.
The culmination of all of the above factors makes Stone Canyon/Fern Bluff a very popular area to live in Round Rock. I grew up in this neighborhood and my sister still lives there with her family. This is one of my favorite areas in all of Round Rock. More about Round Rock Texas real estate.
